Artist's Statement

After graduating from the Art Academy, my interests mostly lied in questioning the "truth" factor in photography: from mockumentary projects to photographic recreations of the religious icons. That lead to creating social experiment situations using the photographic medium.
The biggest influence on my work was the move from Europe to the US. First as an explorer, (“Vanishing Point” ) and later, as an analyzer, choosing more narrow anthropological issues. Like pagan and witch culture adapting to an urban setting of NYC.
Now focusing on paranormal, occult and subconscious parts of society.
My upbringing on the cusp of the “going digital” era lead me to use both of the two worlds – I work with medium format camera with a digital back, although all earlier projects were created by using medium format film. This setting is the best for portrait genre, as each shot still requires a pause to reset, rewind and refocus manually, giving the subject to be super present in the picture taking process.
